The substantial influx of tax revenue to the City and the Commonwealth and hundreds of valuable jobs created by the SugarHouse and will have a highly beneficial economic impact on the community.

The estimated economic benefit of SugarHouse includes:

  • $1 billion to $1.2 billion in gaming taxes over the first five years of operation which will fund wage tax reductions for all who live and work in Philadelphia;
  • Funding for the expansion of the Convention Center -- for which site acquisition has already begun -- which will create additional jobs and additional tourism revenues;
  • $17 million annually in host fees payable to Philadelphia -- $5 million of which will go directly to schools;
  • $7 million to $8 million annually in additional local taxes; and
  • Up to $67 million to the City of Philadelphia in property taxes and other payments over the next 10 years.

Estimates above do not include any benefits from the development of the Phase II facility.
